DAVID AYRES

FOUNDER

David Ayres brings more than 33 years of professional golf experience to every job he does, be it a simple club repair or a complete fitting. His expertise earned him a place among Golf Digest’s most recent list of “America’s 100 Best Clubfitters,”. As owner of Lowcountry Custom Golf since its founding in 2003, David has worked with players of all skill levels – from beginners to touring professionals.  Even before starting his own business, he built a broad foundation in the game as a club professional, teaching pro, expert club fitter and club repair technician, as well as golf retail manager.

Unlike many fitting centers and golf academies, Lowcountry Custom Golf is not affiliated with any one equipment manufacturer, allowing David to fit each individual player to clubs best suited to their game, regardless of brand. As a client, you can and will be confident that your clubs will be built and/or fitted to maximize your skills, each club, from the driver to the wedges, delivering the precise launch angle and optimal spin rate to get the most out of every swing you make.

Mike Ramsden

Fittings / Lessons

Mike turned professional in 1995 after 4 years of college golf. While playing around the world, including time on both the Web.Com Tour as well as the PGA Tour-Canada, Mike decided his time in golf was better served as a golf professional and not a “professional golfer.” He began with the PGA of America in 1997 and continues that journey to this day as we never truly learn all there is to know about our great game. “A good deal of what I know about the golf swing came from two mentors, without whom I would not be where I am today. The first was Harvie Ward, one of the finest amateurs to ever play the game. My time with him in Pinehurst was invaluable. The second is a close friend who still advises and helps me to this day. Both men instilled in me the importance of working with each student using their individual skill levels and abilities to gain the most improvement and enjoyment from the game.” ~ Mike

Matt Cram-Smith

Golf Professional

A native of Australia, Matt has been in the professional golf industry since 2005. After turning professional Matt played primarily on the Tarheel Tour. In 2008 he became an Assistant Professional at Wild Dunes Resort. After winning the 2011 Carolinas PGA Assistant Professional Championship, Matt took over as the Head Women’s Golf Coach at Charleston Southern University. After 7 years of leading the Buccaneers program, Matt joined the team at Lowcountry Custom Golf to continue his career as a golf professional. “I thoroughly enjoy helping players learn how to get the most out of their games. There isn’t one swing for everyone and the challenge of helping players figure out their best moves is really fun for me. I believe good fundamentals and using our bodies efficiently are the keys to maximizing our swing potential and building consistency. I especially love teaching the short game more than anything else and helping players save shots on and around the greens.“ ~ Matt

Madison Coleman

Golf Professional

Madison is a native of South Carolina. She played collegiate golf at Charleston Southern University where she helped lead her team to 2 Big South Conference Championships. After graduation she tried her hand at the Ladies Symetra Tour where she realized her talents were better suited for teaching the game. She received her PGA Class A Membership in 2014 while working at Coosaw Creek Country Club as First Assistant Professional, then in 2015 took the Head Professional job at Berkeley Country Club before eventually joining the team at Lowcountry Custom Golf in 2017. “My teaching philosophy is to keep things simple and fun. The golf swing is complicated enough without us overthinking it. I believe proper set up and tempo are key elements that ensure everything else falls into place within the golf swing.” ~ Madison
